Hello! My name is Andrea and I'm a student at Umass Amherst. I'm starting this blog as a summer project for me and my boyfriend, Josh (aka my photographer). My goal is to create a personal style blog which reflects my love for many different styles (classic.. boho..xyz) in a way that is creative and fun but also wearable for the average college girl. I hope you enjoy!
I’m back (and with a new do)! I went on a road trip vacation to Canada and it was incredibly fun. I had all these plans to take lots of pictures and blog the whole thing but two things got in the way. 1- The place I stayed did not have wifi and 2- It is a pain in the bum to carry around a big camera all day and we stayed out pretty late at night.
These photos are from the very beginning of my trip when we went to an antique car show. I put this outfit together because I was loving all the geometric shapes and how they looked together. I was a bit dressed up for the event BUT as Oscar Wilde said, “You can never be overdressed or undereducated.”
So far on Urbane Bloom, I’ve been posting a lot of girly outfits and a lot of 70s inspo. Today, I wanted to switch it up and insert a little edge. I’m really excited about this outfit because it’s a youthful, fun look that you could wear to a concert or a party. When I created this blog my goal was to style looks for teenagers like me. This means having a mix of professional looks for meetings with professors and going to internships, everyday looks for class, and fun outfits for parties. My style is also pretty all over the place. Some days I dress a bit preppy, some days I go retro. Variety is how I have fun with fashion and express myself. I hope you like this look and please follow if you are interested in seeing more like it (or not like it 😉 haha).
My personality is pretty free spirited but I went full fledged into the roll with this outfit. As I’ve been creating this blog, I’ve come to realize how much I’m currently loving seventies inspired clothing (I created a new category for all the 70s inspired looks I’ve posted). So, I let my inner hippie loose. I rocked the headband, skipped the footwear, and frolicked in the garden. Although, I must admit, I wasn’t committed enough to go shoeless to work so I added a pair of sandals. That decision was probably for the best.
I spent this past weekend at my boyfriend’s family lake house. I was beautiful and wonderful and relaxing.
We went on a hike!
And swam in the lake.
I clearly can’t wait to get into the water!
This was an awesome weekend and I’m so sad it’s over! Here are some of the outfits I wore on my weekend getaway. 1-3: Cutout shoulder sweater and statement necklace. This was perfect for the one rainy day we had. We went out for lunch and a movie. (I was not a Planet of the Apes fan but my boyfriend loved it.) 4-6: My jacket and leggings are both Lululemon. I was covered up enough to keep the bugs out but my skin was still able to breathe. Lulu is the only brand I’ve found which can make this possible. And finally 7-9: This is my favorite coverup dress. I’ve had it for a few years (from Forever 21) and I’m still in love with the colors and patterns in it. But I still couldn’t wait to take it off and jump into the water!
I hope you enjoyed my 3 getaway looks! Follow for more!
I’ve been a bit obsessed with palazzo pants lately… They’re refreshing compared to the jeggings I’m used to squeezing myself into! I got this pair at Francesca’s (also a recent love) but I did have a bit of trouble styling them at first. I’m the type of person who likes to stick to loose on top, tight on bottom or vice versa. But with these super wide leg pants, I felt like a fitted top was almost too off-setting. So, I picked a looser one, topped it with some gold accessories to go with the medallion print and grabbed a coral bag for some summer color. Hope you like the look! Follow for more!
P.S. I admit… the pants are a bit long on me. This happens a lot being 5’2″. But does no one else tell themselves, “No need to hem it. Now I can wear it with flats OR heels!” Just me?
You know those days when you want to stay in your pjs all day long…..?
Every once in a while.. Why not?
We all have lazy days like these, but no one needs to know about them! I got this pj set from forever 21. It is super comfy and the top is cute enough to wear during the day. This Batiste dry shampoo is a sample size but when I run out I am definitely getting a full size bottle! It never leaves powdery residue and is a super quick and easy fix for greasy hair. BB cream is everyone’s favorite way to get some spf, moisture and a little bit of coverage in one move without ever worrying about streaks or unevenness. This Revlon lip butter is also perfect for a lazy day because it gives you just a tint of color to look a bit more pulled together. I skipped eye makeup and threw on my new favorite sunnies! They are Tiffany & Co and were a birthday present from my amazing boyfriend. Some accessories, leggings and a cute pair of chevron espadrilles and I was out the door to my favorite breakfast place in 10 minutes!
So, I had an important event at work and we were told to wear all black clothing… necklaces don’t count as clothing right?!?
Impatiently waiting for my chai to be ready…..
I love a good little black dress, but for summer it needed some spicing up. I got this hot pink necklace at Francesca’s which I am actually posing in front of in the first picture! I also went with Tiffany Case by OPI for nails which is all sparkles and perfect for summer. These little pops of color make all the difference in making a look feel new. I work in a creative environment so this dress is perfectly acceptable to wear but, if this isn’t quite work appropriate for your office, the look is also perfect for a cocktail party or a night out with friends! Let me know what you think in the comments and follow for more!
So, I went to the Jay-Z and Beyonce concert last night and it was amazing. Beyonce was flawless. Her vocals, her dance moves, her daring costume choices. And Jay-Z was fun to attempt to rap along with. I wanted to wear something bold but lightweight (it was a HOT day/night). I’ve been obsessed with jumpsuits lately so I decided to wear this printed one from TJ Maxx. It’s super lightweight and comfortable which definitely helped me survive the 5 hours we were stuck in traffic on the way there. Instead of going neutral with the accessories I picked out a different color from the jumpsuit for my earrings, nails and wedges and I’m happy with the way it looked! The bag was neutral but it was perfect because I was able to hold it as a clutch during the day and when I got to the concert instead of putting it on the ground I was able to pull out the strap and throw it over my shoulder! It was also small enough that they didn’t make me wait in the bag check line which was nice because I arrived JUST in time to see the start of the show. Anyway, I hope you like the look! P.S. Ladies, tell him, “I woke up like this…FLAWLESS” ❤
This 70s inspired look is a fun alternative to your typical denim-shorts-and-a-tank outfit on a hot summer day. I’m obsessed with these floral shorts which I got a Forever 21 for about $15. They are so comfortable and light weight that they feel like pj shorts. I went on a date with my boyfriend in this look but it could also work going out to lunch with the girls or to an outdoor shopping mall! It’s casual but the patterns and shapes created are super trendy. If you aren’t into mixing patterns, a plain black cropped tee would be less bold but still really cute! Comment if you like (or don’t) and follow for more!
Summer has just begun and so has my blog! I wanted to start off with something simple but me. I am all about having fun with fashion and to me, this includes mixing colors, patterns and textures. Also important to me, is comfort. Don’t get me wrong, I love a great pair of pumps, but on a day to day basis, I want to feel my feet. Today, I wanted something that was easy but included fun, bright summer colors. I even added pink lipstick for an extra splash of color! I hope you like the outfit and please follow if you want to see more!
